In the Slovenian towns of Celje and Zalec at the end of February this year, The Seventh Minifootball Championship for Catholic Priests was held, organized by the PAX Sports Association. The PAX Sports Association is an organisation which taken under a sports umbrella all the Slovenian Catholic priests.
Born out of a desire for friendly competition, together with a concern for the physical well-being, the tournament featured more than 180 priests from 13 countries, the largest in the history of encounters. In addition, the home team took part in Italy, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Austria, Poland, Portugal, Hungary, Slovakia, Ukraine, Belarus, Montenegro and Romania.
The final results are listed below. Notwithstanding the results of the competition, everyone could be called winners as they all showed a high degree of fair play and togetherness that can only bring nations together.
The organisers were very positive about the event, everything went according to plan, especially since more countries than ever took part, including teams of Italy and Montenegro from the first time.
We would like to thanks to all members of the Association to support the organization, to Celje bishop Mr. Stanislav Lipovsek and to all spectators for visiting the event.
The home team did not perform too well, but from these failures they should be able to take in the meaning of the motto EMF – the most important thing is to play.
