On Wednesday, Razvan Burleanu, the President of European Minifootball Federation, received a Diploma of Excellence for the success of the promotion and development of minifootball at an international level in a Gala which was held in the Romanian Athenaeum to celebrate 85 years of activity of the Romanian Sports Press Association, lead by Dumitru Graur. The award was presented by the former international tennis player, Ilie Nastase.
The event was attended by Their Royal Highnesses Princess Margareta and Prince Radu, the Romanian Sports Press Association is Under the High Patronage of His Majesty, King Michael I of Romania. In this Gala other awards have been granted to Gheorghe Hagi (for the project Viitorul Constanta), Gabriela Szabo (for the development of the sport for the children), Carol Eduard Novak (gold medalist at the Paralympic Games, London 2012), Mircea Lucescu (to represent the Romanian football abroad), Octavian Morariu (President COSR), Valeria Răcilă van Groningen (for the organization of Bucharest Marathon), journalists Radu Cosaşu and Ovidiu Ioanitoaia, and Prime Minister Victor Ponta (for his interest in the sport problems) and Mayor of Bucharest Sorin Oprescu (for building the National Stadium).
”This award is not an individual one, it is on behalf of more than 600.000 Europeans from 21 countries who play minifootball in the most important project for grassroot sport in Europe after the Collapse of Communism. And when it happens in your country, this prize is much more than an honor to me personally”, said Razvan Burleanu.
