The new development of minifootball in Europe

2012 is a historical year for the minifootball at European level. After March 2012 when the European Minifootball Federation was founded, in September in Chisinau the biggest event of European minifootball with 16 participant countries, miniEURO Moldova 2012 was organized.

At the end of last week, between 8th-11th November in Prague where the headquarters of EMF are, the Executive and the General Assembly of EMF was organized. The presidents of national minifootball associations/federations members of EMF discussed about the strategy for the l development of minifootbal in the next period of time. ”This is the most important meeting for us, because we have to establish our future strategy and to create a strong organization, proud to be the most important grassroot sport federation in Europe.”, said in his opening speech Răzvan Burleanu, the President of European Minifootball Federation.

EMF has decided to continue to organize every year the European Minifootball Championship for national teams, miniEURO. Germany, Croatia or Israel are the countries interested to host the next miniEURO in 2013. A final decision will be taken in January on the basis of the projects submitted by all these countries. Greece, Czech Republic, Kazakhstan or England have already mention their interest to organize miniEURO in 2014, a such decision will be taken in July next year.

In this General Assembly, Christoph Köechy, the president of the German Minifootball Association, was unanimously elected to be member in the Executive Committee.

In the next period of time EMF will work in the specialized committees such as: legislative, referee, strategic development, media and PR, tournament, IT or the health, safety, security and environment.

With the occassion of this General Assembly, Sweden was accepted to become new member of the Federation. Poland, Serbia, Ireland and Portugal will be accepted until the end of March next year. All the three Baltic countries, Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia are in an advanced process of organization and development of the minifootball at the national level.

”Until the end of March next year European Minifootball Federation will count over 1 million minifootball players in Europe and until the middle of 2013 we will speak about more than 30 countries part of the most important project in Europe developed only for amateur players”, said Răzvan Burleanu.
