MASCOT D2.2
Race to Sustainability ARIt is not a game, it is a race. Join the race.
The MASCOT AR Experience is a public browser-based sustainability activity developed as part of Deliverable D2.2 of the MASCOT project, co-funded by the European Union under the PPPA-SPORT-2023-PEOPLE-PLANET call.
The experience introduces users to the Race to Sustainability concept through short interactive scenes that connect climate impact, sport participation and practical sustainable actions. It is designed for use by athletes, clubs, fans, event organisers, schools and other sport stakeholders who want to explore how sport can contribute to greener behaviour and more sustainable events.
AR Experience
The activity can be used on a mobile phone, tablet or desktop browser. Where camera access is available, the experience can be used with the MASCOT visual target. Where camera access is restricted, the experience can still be followed in browser simulation mode.
At the end of the activity, users are invited to choose one practical action that can support more sustainable sport events. These actions can be used by clubs, organisers and local communities as part of wider awareness campaigns, fan-zone activities, school sessions or event communication.
Sustainability themes
Extreme weather can affect sport facilities, training sessions and community events. The experience encourages users to think about preparedness, responsible event planning and local climate resilience.
Rising temperatures can affect athletes, volunteers and spectators. The experience highlights the importance of hydration, shade, scheduling and health-conscious event organisation.
Sport events create environmental impact through travel, waste, energy use and consumption. The experience encourages practical actions such as reusable bottles, waste sorting, greener transport choices and reduced single-use materials.

About the project
MASCOT — Minifootball Addressing Sustainability Challenges through Overall Transformation — is a European project coordinated by the European Minifootball Federation. The project supports the integration of sustainability principles into minifootball events, training, communication and public engagement.
The AR Experience complements the Race to Sustainability Toolkit and the wider MASCOT final sustainability package, helping sport organisations use practical, engaging and accessible tools to promote environmental awareness.
