On May 17th in the Slovenian capital city of Ljubljana the first round of one of the first Slovenian minifootball leagues on artificial grass “Ljubljana Gibisport Klece” officially started. The league is established in cooperation with MZS – Malonogometno zdruzenje Slovenije (Minifootball Association of Slovenia; EMF founder) and media partner Kapodol.
Because the league is played according to official EMF standards only amateur players who do not appear in national football or futsal leagues are allowed to participate. And it seems it will be a big hit. The league of 10 teams is played after the single cycle system each-with-each and with the playoff, where the first 4 teams play among each other for the league champion. Points from the regular part will be passed on to the playoff. The leagues specialty, which makes the matches even more exiting, is the playing system 4 + 1 and the match time with two periods of 25 minutes. The league champion will play in the autumn tournament for the title of champion of Slovenia organized by MZS – Malonogometno zdruzenje Slovenije.
The first rounds were marked by diversity within the teams, a lot of goals and in particular the intense competition of the participating teams. In the first part of the summer till end of June four more rounds will follow and after the summer holidays break the league continues at the beginning of September with final in the October. All statistics of the league with participants and scorers are available here:

The organizers predict a very interesting and exiting continuation of the league, so new teams will definitely want to play along in the beautiful “forest lounge beach” surroundings of the Gibisport centre.
Warmest regards from Slovenia to minifootball players and supporters all around the globe.
