A small Romanian city, called Onesti, hosted on Sunday one of the four regional minifootball competitions organized in this period of time in Romania. 9 champion teams from East and Central part of the country, winners of the local championships, participated in this phase of the competition to fight for a place in the National Minifootball Championship.
At the end of a beautiful day, the best three teams proved to be Railex Suceava, Oz-Er Golden Roman and S&Z Sfântu Gheorghe. Railex Suceava is one of the favorite teams to win the national title, in 2011 this team won the 3rd place in the National Championship. Oz Er Golden Roman is from now a team present in all editions of the competition at the national level, while S&Z Sfântu Gheorghe is for the first time at this level.
The revelation of the competition was Tsunami Onesti. This team was really close to a big surprise, it lost due to the lack of the experience and focus. Tsunami lost to Railex Suceava in the final game in a penalty shootout.
Răzvan Burleanu, the President of Romanian Minifootball Federation was impressed by the high quality of the game and also by the number of the minifootball players that come to play every year at the national level.
”The National Championship is the moment that thousands of minifootball players all over Romania have been waiting for. I wish all the players an enjoyable National Championship and I want to send out a message that minifootball is more than a sport, it is about passion and love. May the best team win!”
The three best teams from this regional competition qualified for the sixth edition of the National Minifootball Championship which will be held in Deva city between 5-8 July.
