As the first official season of minifootball in Montenegro is coming to its close, the last four teams in the national competition showed their skills and demonstrated why this sport is enjoyed by so many in this country. Impressive attendance and interest of press and a national TV station proved to be yet another incentive for the best 4 out of 32 teams that earned their place in this competition – Dadi Export, Maximus, Eurozox and SD Zagoric. Both matches were played in a friendly but competitive atmosphere, with all four goalkeepers in the spotlight.
The more experienced teams – Dadi Export and Eurozox found their way to the final, which will be played on May 11, but the efforts of both Maximus and SD Zagoric turned this into night a true spectacle for all fans of minifootball in Montenegrin capital.
DADI EXPORT – MAXIMUS 1:1 (0:1) – Penalties – 6:4
Scorer(s): Milošević (DEX) ‘26 – Milutinović (MAX) ’1
The spectators had barely taken their seats when an extremely early goal by Milutinovic (Maximus) turned the first match into a fast-paced battle of experience and youth. Dadi Export gathered themselves together quickly and took initiative on the field, while Maximus waited for their chance from counterattacks, and attacks from both flanks, every time Dadi Export would lose possession. Both goalkeepers, Hot (DEX) and Novakovic (MAX) earned praise for their performances. Milosevic equalized in the sixth minute of the second half, boosting his team’s confidence. The equaliser, however, did not disturb the younger side, and its players who upped the pace but failed to score from several colossal chances towards the end of the game. The penalty shoot-out was decided by a Hot’s save in the sixth series, who gave his team a chance to compete for both trophies this spring.
EUROZOX – SPORTSKO DRUŠTVO ZAGORIČ 1:0 (1:0)
Scorer(s): Drobnjak (EUR) 7′
In the second game of the night, experienced Eurozox, led by the head coach of the national team, Darko Mugosa, played against young and talented SD Zagoric. In a marvelous performance by all players, and notably respective goalkeepers, Eurozox went on to win by a single goal margin with 1:0. Talented SD Zagoric seemed to lack a bit of concentration and experience to avoid being on the losing side, but the technical qualities they possess are invaluable potential for the seasons to come. We were 7 minutes into the game when Drobnjak (EUR) scored the winning goal, after a well-played corner-kick action. Both teams chose a disciplined, slightly defensive approach, waiting for the opponent’s mistakes and making quick transitions that usually ended up in great saves by both goalkeepers, Drobnjak (EUR) and Prelevic (SDZ).
Overall, the Cup semi-finals served as good preparation for the Cup Finals on May 11 in Podgorica, which will precede the League play-off finals in mid May.
