Healthy living campaigns, greater collaboration between the public and private sector and using the power of sport to further trade are amongst the UKMA’s recommendations to the Government in our considered response to their new initiative for sport document.

Back in the summer, David Cameron’s new government invited suggestions as to how sports strategy should and could change in the UK moving forward.

The public consultation ran until the 2nd of October and the UKMA has submitted a detailed report based on our experiences of having 1.4m people in our leagues each week.

A spokesman for the UKMA explained that: “The UK Minifootball Association supports the Government’s objectives of improving healthy living outcomes for people across all communities.”

And as a result of this, our submission proposes a series of recommendations that fits with the ambitious agenda of the Government in establishing a new strategy for sport.
Amongst those recommendations are:

Plans to drive up sports participation rates via innovative healthy living campaigns;
New public-private initiatives to fund community sport – making the best of what is on offer from business and the public sector;
Utilising the power and prestige of international sport to bring in new inward investment opportunities to our country by harnessing sporting competitions with trade initiatives.
Overall the recommendations contained within this submission meets the Government’s agenda of improved health outcomes, a skilled society and ensuring effective and efficient value for money.

The full 37 page submission was sent to the Government, who will be publishing a full range of suggestions from bodies across the country in due course.
