Minifootball players from the UK are being offered the chance to appear on a top rated national TV show.
Embarrassing Bodies Live is one of the most popular programmes in the UK, being shown in Primetime evening viewing and they have approached one of the UK Minifootball Association’s affiliates to find a team to take part.
The show aims to improve the health of the nation, by teaching people how to spot health problems live on air and, says UKMA’s Philip Stevens, there are many reasons why they wanted footballers to be involved.
“They were very keen for teams to come forward,” he said. “And it’s easy to see why. The vast majority of our players are younger and these are very people who might not know how to spot health issues they may have.
“Also minifootball is great for fitness generally so I think our teams were perhaps the perfect fit for them.”
Philip said that it was testament to how the profile of minifootball was rising in the UK. “Minifootball is perhaps the fastest growing sport in Britain”, he said. “And TV companies all over the country will start taking notice of us now – simply because they have no choice given the popularity of the sport.”
Scores of teams have come forward for the chance to play so far and will be hoping to be on the show when it is filmed in May.
