The captain of the team that played a minifootball game against Olympic stars, Usain Bolt, Yohan Blake and Warren Weir has told UKMA that the match was “the greatest of my life.”
Michael Scannell, who has been skipper of The Underdogs for a couple of years, was amongst the lucky players who lined up against Bolt and said: “It was the most surreal experience of my life. I am looking up and Usain Bolt is coming towards me on a football field. It was absolutely incredible.
“It was the greatest game I will ever play in, that is for sure.”
UKMA referee Chris Hope said last week, how down-to-earth the trio were and Michael echoed those thoughts, adding: “They were just like normal players, laughing and joking with each other. Teasing each other when they misplaced passes and so on. They were clearly enjoying themselves so much.”
The UKMA affiliated match took place at a league in Uxbridge, Middlesex.
