A final to remember! Romanians won against Kazakhstan in the absolute thrilling game and take the gold from the WMF WORLD CUP 2023. Plate final went better for Hungary, when they beat strong Azerbaijan. It need to be said that Europeans conquered the World!
Minifootball fans in Ras Al Khaimah, UAE, were probably expecting an absolute banger, because both Romania and Kazakhstan played world class minifootball during the whole tournament. The atmosphere was just something special and fans from both countries were an another player for their teams. These two finalists gave us a beautiful, unforgettable high-class performance. Just a minute to go, Kazakhastan was in the lead 2:0! But Romanians didn´t give up and equalised just seconds to go.
The game went into overtime. After that we were witnesses of a penalty shootout. Do you remember Europa League final between Manchester United and Villareal in 2021? This final was a bit more intense than the Europa League one. 30th kick from the penalty spot ended up the penalty marathon and the whole stadium went wild. Romania won penalty shootout 12:11 in the most memorable way.
Protagonists in the 3rd place match were Hungary and Azerbaijan. It was a redemption day for Hungarians after their loss in the same match 4 years ago against current champions, Romania. Hungary won in a spectacular match 3:1 and took the bronze.
