The bumper UK summer of sport continues this week, as barely days after the Olympic flame was finally extinguished over London the 92 professional football league clubs kick off their seasons.
And although minifootball is a different sport, the staff at UKMA cannot help be excited, as spokesman Brian Thorn admits. “There is no doubt that the big kick off is always an exciting time of year. Ever since we were children the first day of the football season is something you ring on the calendar.
“This year is slightly different as we have had all the excitement of the Olympics too, but now that is out of the way we can all look forward to watching our teams again.”
Brian admitted there was a practical benefit to the start of the football season for UKMA saying: “This is one of our most profitable times of the year for getting new teams in. People see the season starting with the pro teams and want to join in themselves. We expect minfootball to boom on the back of the Premier League and Football League starting again. And no doubt out National Tournament will be even more popular this year!”
