The first regional Minifootball tournament took place in Portugal recently.
The competition brought six regional teams formed by players from the official competitions of AP MiniFootball, the SuperLiga Nacional Futebol 5 and Futebol 7 (5-a-side and 7-a side), specifically: Minho, Porto, Centro, Lisboa, Setúbal and Alentejo/Algarve.
In the event that was held in Lisbon, there were players that have been scouted by officials of Portuguese MiniFootball Association. The event gave them more time for observation and more direct analysis of potential players who will serve MiniFootball´s Portugal National Team that will participate in EMF Euro – European Championship MiniFootball – in August in Hungary, led by the national coach Sandro Mendes.
The Regional Team Centro won the 1st Inter Regional Tournament of Associação Portuguesa MiniFootball, beating in the final the Regional Team from Alentejo/Algarve. The 3rd place gone to Setúbal Regional Team and the 4th to Porto, Lisboa was on 5th position and Minho Regional Team was on 6th.
The tournament’s star player was Ricardo Sá Dias, who played by Portugal National Team in last miniEURO in Croatia, and the best scorer was Carlos Miguel Vinhas, both players played by Centro Regional Team. The best Goalkeeper was Fábio Rodrigues, of Porto Regional Team.
The Portuguese MiniFootball Association said that the event was a great success and that this was a big step to Minifootball in Portugal.
