One of the unsung heroes of British Minifootball celebrated his retirement ….by working at the National 6 a side Football Championships!
John Smith retired earlier in the year after giving nearly 30 years loyal service to the UK Minifootball Association, but was so desperate to help he volunteered to assist at the recent National Championships.
UK Minfootball’s Philip Stevens saluted John and said: “There is nothing he doesn’t know about 5 and 6 a side football in the UK. He has been involved in various capacities, first as a referee then working for us a full time basis as a promotions man, then travelling the country as league inspector.”
“He knows everyone in the business, the length and breadth of the country and it is absolutely typical of the man that he insisted on coming to help on our big day.”
John acted as the car-parking coordinator on the day and has promised to be back next year.
