EMF launches MASCOT, a European project using minifootball to promote sustainability, climate awareness and practical behaviour change.
The European Minifootball Federation has launched MASCOT, a European project designed to show how sport can support sustainability, climate awareness and positive behavioural change. Through the communicative power of minifootball, the project will connect athletes, clubs, supporters, national federations and wider civic partners around a common goal: making greener choices visible, practical and engaging.
MASCOT will develop and promote tools that help sport organisations act in a more sustainable way. The project will focus on practical outputs, including a sustainability toolkit, an augmented reality experience, training activities, workshops and public engagement actions connected to minifootball events and communities.
The project will be implemented with a strong European dimension. EMF will coordinate the communication and dissemination work, ensuring that project results reach the minifootball family and also inspire organisations beyond minifootball. The project will use the EMF website, social media, training sessions, workshops, press activities and event visibility to reach different target groups in an accessible and consistent way.
MASCOT is built on a simple message: sport can help accelerate social and environmental transformation when sustainability is made clear, participatory and connected to everyday action. By engaging players, supporters, managers and local stakeholders, the project will demonstrate how minifootball can lead by example in the transition toward more responsible sport.
Over the project period, EMF will share regular updates on the development of the toolkit, the AR experience, training activities, workshops and public campaigns. These outputs will support long-term reuse by clubs, federations and sport organisations interested in adopting greener practices.

MASCOT – Minifootball Addressing Sustainability Challenges through Overall Transformation – is coordinated by the European Minifootball Federation (EMF) under the PPPA-SPORT-2023-PEOPLE-PLANET programme, Sport for People and Planet.
