MASCOT / Sustainability

The MASCOT Green Talk with Athletes brought the project’s sustainability message directly to players, teams and stakeholders during EMFCL 2025 in Bulgaria.

Activity overview

On 13 September 2025, the MASCOT project organised the Green Talk with Athletes during EMFCL 2025 in Bulgaria. The activity brought the project’s sustainability message directly to athletes, teams and stakeholders participating in the competition environment.

The Green Talk created a space for discussion on the role of athletes in promoting greener behaviour, responsible event participation and practical sustainability choices in sport.

Main points discussed

The session focused on the connection between sport, climate awareness and everyday choices made by athletes, teams and supporters. Topics included heat and health, waste reduction, reusable solutions, responsible travel choices and the role of athletes as sustainability ambassadors.

The activity also supported the Race to Sustainability message by encouraging participants to think about practical actions that can be repeated at future events, clubs and national competitions.

Contribution to MASCOT

The Green Talk strengthened the project’s public engagement dimension by placing athletes at the centre of the sustainability conversation. It also provided visible event-based evidence of how MASCOT messages were communicated during EMFCL 2025.
