League set to double in size just a week after starting!
A UKMA affiliated league is set to double in size, just a week after it kicked off. The league, in York, started this week with 16 teams in two divisions, but such was the success of the first week, there are now 16 more teams waiting to join. The rapid increase is put down to the low-cost matches designed to include as many of the community as possible. UKMA’s Brian Thorn said that although most leagues get bigger after their first season, the doubling in size to 32 teams was “very exciting”. He added: “32 teams in York makes it our biggest affiliated league in North Yorkshire and the fact we have been able to make the league as accessible as possible, so that people from all backgrounds and income levels can experience the excitement of minifootball is fantastic news.”
