The Montenegro Minifootball Association has made a £22m (€25.5m) new signing as star international player Stevan Jovetic has agreed to become a brand new ambassador for the sport.

The 23-year old striker, who has just signed a deal to play in the English Premier League for Manchester City, who signed him for £22m earlier this month, was delighted to get on board.

The President of the Montenegro Minifootball Association Nebojsa Kraljevic met with the former Fiorentina player to discuss minifootball in the country and told him of his ambitious plans and the future, including the miniEURO event.

The rapid growth of minifootball in Montenegro has been highlighted by the fact that there are now over 700 players in the country, including many former professionals.

Nebjosa said he was delighted with the meeting and added: “Stevan said he accepted the role of promoter and said that he will support efforts made by the Association to popularize the minifootball Montenegro. He thinks that is a good thing that people in the league, can be socialize and compete. He was surprised they have the opportunity to become team members and represent their country at the European Championships.

“We can not describe how pleased we are that this great football player has agreed to be our ambassador. This will attract even more interest for the sport in the country.”

An exclusive interview with Stevan will be done – and published here – when his schedule allows.
