It’s been six months since the miniEURO2015 ended in Croatia, but Scotland preparations begin in earnest for the 2016 this weekend.
The 2016 squad meet for their first training session on Sunday. We caught up with Scotland Manager – and now license holder – Jamie Leggett and he told us it just might be a different Scotland mentality this time around.
Training starts again this week, you must be looking forward to it?
Yes it has been a long wait for myself and the squad to get together but we can’t wait to get back together Sunday and start prep for the EMF Euros in Hungary.
Are there any new additions to the squad?
No new additions but a familiar face has returned after a year out in Steven Scott so look forward to having back with us on Sunday.
Any of the old guard who can’t be part of the team this time around?
Yes there has been, some of the old guard Chris Malone, Sean McIntyre, Davie Craig for different reasons will not be with us this year and we are sad to lose them but hope and they are always welcome back in the future and of course we thank them for everything they have done already for us and carry on being 1 of the family always.
Without giving too much away, what will you be working on this time?
Myself and the squad have learnt a lot from the last 2 EMF Euro and this Sunday we look to work on the good things we have been doing more and some new styles and ways of playing and see how we go from there, who knows it maybe a different Scotland team you see in Hungary.
Watch this space!
How many more sessions will you be looking at?
We look to have as many sessions as possible before Hungary as we are behind others already but as said before we are 1 family and not a lot has been changed so as said it just working on a few different things we feel we have too to make us better and harder to play, so 1 a month up too Hungary I think be enough for us.
Time is ticking by towards EMF Euro just tell us briefly what the plans are before that event
We as always we hope can get some games in if possible.
We have to worry what we are doing now not worry about others and we need to now start getting things right starting Sunday working hard on the things we need to work on and make us harder to play against even more than we are now. As I have always said we fear no one now but respect everyone and we will be ready come Hungary and as the squad motto says: WE GO AGAIN
