An agreement of great importance was reached last Friday regarding the upcoming miniEURO in GREECE. EMF Marketing Director Thanos Papadopoulos and GCMFA operations manager Stratis Sipetzis had an important meeting with the Minister of Press and Media of Greece, Mr. Simos Kedikoglou and MP representing Rethymno city Mr. Kefalogiannis Giannis. The 4 men concluded that the European minifootball championship, which is a great touristic product for the country and one of the biggest sport events of the year, will be covered by ERT, the National Greek Media Network in a large scale TV production. This agreement is extremely important because through ERT all big european TV networks will broadcast the miniEURO 2013 all over Europe.
Thanos Papadopoulos and Stratis Sipetzis, accompanied by Michael Fotiadis (EMF HSSE Director) traveled to Rethymno so as to have some other important meetings with local authorities. The most important, took place with Mr. George Marinakis, mayor of Rethymno city and one of the key persons in the effort of GCMFA to bring the organization of the miniEURO to the country. The mayor mentioned that he will work alongside the organisers and that he will do whatever is important for the EMF so as to ensure a successful organisation in the beautiful Cretan city. It is worth noting that both Mr. Marinakis and Mr. Kefalogiannis supported the candidacy of Greece for the miniEURO 2013 in all possible ways from the first moment. Through the miniEURO 2013, Rethymno (and Creta in general) will be promoted all over Europe as the place to be for 2013.
Returning to the television coverage, it was decided that ERT will not only cover the matches of the miniEURO 2013, but a big part of the preparation of this unprecedented event, Tributes, TV shows and sports programs will include large references on minifootball in Greece and in the rest of Europe. This is something that already happens in most of the countries, however it is important to underline it, because ERT will be a significant media partner of the event from now on. We should note here, that ERT in Greece is the media network that covers some of the most important national and international sport events, organisations, matches and in general sport meetings. The miniEURO is simply a new step for the Greek TV station.
