Hungary and Slovenia took the centre stage as the European Minifootball Championships 2016 began this afternoon in front of a full-house arena in Székesheférvár.

Although the hosts and the group favourites were both eager to put their first win on the board in Group A, Hungary had a more offensive start to the game. But as threatened, Slovenia took control and started to dictate the pace of the game during the middle part of the first half. The first half ended goalless.

Hungary, once again, had a better start to the second half and forged ahead to 1:0 after only 6 minutes, with Attila Nagy’s goal. During the ending minutes of the second part none of the teams could turn possession into goals. With only 3 minutes left on the clock, Hungary missed their last chance from a close range, finishing the first match of the EMF EURO with a one-goal victory.

Over the course of the next 6 days at Székesfehérvár, the EMF EURO tournament will see 32 teams, in 8 groups, battling it out for the European crown.
