We have improved defending and we want to win a medal”, says striker Jan Koudelka

In the final two duels of the debut year of the National Minifootball League they showed they take the attack on the podium seriously. On their home pitch in Boskovice players of Blansko knocked out Milovice 9:1 and then they beat out strong Brno 7:1.

Blansko finished the first half of the competition on the third position. “We played really well in the last two games at home; the results probably indicate that we have the strength. We received only two goals, we scored sixteen. But now the long break comes, in spring anything can happen”, says the striker Jan Koudelka.

In the duel between Blansko and Brno which was a highlight of the upcoming autumn the home team reigned on the pitch. “Every win gives pleasure, we prepared for this match really thoroughly, because both teams played for the third place and we were finally more successful.  The result of the match (7:1) looks as it was an easy game, but it is not true. The guests had better ball possession, but we defended pretty well and that was the key to the victory. We managed to counterattack and to be successful in the breaks”, he says.

Although the trainees of coach Jindřich Záboj started the competition by winning 6: 3 against Jihlava, in the next four rounds they were defeated three times. “Our main problem in the beginning was the defense. Later we decided to stay at five players at our half of the pitch and to dash into counterattacks, which proved to be the right strategy thanks to which we score goals”, says the Czech national team member, which scored seven goals in seven matches. “It’s cool, but we also have got another expert in our team”, teases Koudelka one of the competition top scorers Ondřej Paděra, who scored eleven times.

Currently Blansko in the third place is losing four points from the leaders of Prague and Most in the second position. “Our ambition is to stay on the podium, whether we finish second, nobody knows. We need to bring points from away, because in the spring we will go there five times and we play at home only twice. We have the strength, because a strong line-up meets regularly. We have to keep playing as yet, defend and rush into fast breaks. The league may go well and we might finish in the third place”, wishes player of Viktoria Suchy in Blansko minifootbal Union who also plays for RKM Tripoli in Brno Superleague.

He likes the new project of the Minifootball League. “I think it will still improve and develop, it is being looked after by good people, and they do it well. It depends if they will persist. If this league will go on, it is only good for football”, says twenty three year old Koudelka.
