A few days after Kosice was awarded with the prize of European City of Sport 2016, there was a minifootball feast taking place in this second biggest city of Slovakia.
Just the best 28 teams from the Slovak competitions had the opportunity to be presented at Slovak Minifootball Championship which was organized by Slovak minifootball association.
And it was a Kosician team ASGuard Security which won the Slovak championship when they overplayed FC Bepon from the capital of Slovakia. Even in the battle for third place there was winner from eastern Slovakia, as Twinstav Presov defeated Rumburak Trencin.
“Minifootball in Slovakia gets a growing interest of players, public and media. This was also seen in Kosice where many people came and watched the very best from minifootball. It’s also because minifootball is one of the most popular sports not only in Slovakia but also in the whole world, “said Peter Kralik, general secretary of Slovak minifootball association.
The best players from local leagues across the country had, in his words, the opportunity to show their quality and also to fight for a place in the national team of Slovakia and to be a part of Slovak squad in miniEuro 2015 which is taking place in Croatia in September. “The matches of Slovak national team will be broadcast by one of the Slovak TV, so the fans can look forward to watch miniEuro 2015 as well, “said Mr. Kralik.
