Polish minifootball is growing bigger and stronger every day. This year Playarena, Polish minifootball national league, together with its sponsor Fortuna, will inaugurate a new important tournament: Fortuna Polish National Cup.
Up to this year, best Polish minifootballers were competing in one huge tournament every year: Nike Playarena League Championships, which is the prize that over 200 000 players playing in local leagues dream of. Now some of them might also focus on another important trophy: Fortuna Polish National Cup. The cup will be organized by Playarena together with its new sponsor,
Fortuna. Fortuna is one of the the biggest Polish betting operators. The company involved in supporting Polish football for many years, including the sponsorship of the best known Polish football club – Legia Warszawa.
Along with local Nike Playarena League (over 235 000 players, playing in more than 200 leagues in 70 cities), teams from many cities are competing in local Cup tournaments. The winners of 32 local cups will then get a chance to win the main trophy of Fortuna Polish National Cup, which will take place in July. The inauguration of Fotruna Polish National Cup and rapid growth of Nike Playarena League mark the fast and firm progress of Polish minifootball in last several years.
Wojciech Dudek, President of Polish Minifootball Federation : It is a milestone for Polish minifootball. Fortuna Polish National Cup trophy might be challenged by every team in Poland, even the ones playing in lower leagues in their cities. I expect some serious dark horses among the challengers. This is also a great news for the Polish National Minifootball Team: our coach, Klaudiusz Hirsch, will get a chance to see another few hundred players in action, which will surely have an impact on Polish National Minifootball Team selection.
Will the best players of Fortuna Polish National Cup improve the quality of Polish National Minifootball Team the way Dudek expects it? We shall see during the MiniEuro 2016 in Hungary.
