Memorable Evening at the Olympic Collegno As Minifootball Produces A Classic

In the latest round of games in the Time Out Italian Minifootball League a crucial match up took place, between two teams who just could not afford to lose.

For FC Parri Raffaele Cece takes the field back from two stinging defeats and anxious to return to winning ways. While opponents The Omnia Massimo Pezzuto needed a win to keep in touch with leaders Masterfin .

Cece named an eight man squad: Marseglia goal; defence including Viggiano in the centre, Cece and Martinelli in midfield supported on the flanks by Luciani and Matera, De Meo at tip of the diamond. The Omnia were at full strength with Paul Caramento between the posts

After a thrilling opening  Parri took the lead with Alex Luciani, primed by a vertical millimetre of Matera and quick to wedge between defender and goalkeeper out with a velvety touch . Omnia were soon back into the game, creating a strong pressure but Parri are able to stand up to the barrage, and allows only the occasional long shot.

On the threshold of the interval, Francesco De Meo made it 2-0 with an elegant finish.

Parri tired in the second half as the Omnia stepped on the accelerator. A rebound that bounces between Cece Viggiano and allows ” doppioG ” Lopez to halve the deficient . Shortly after, another failure in defence from Parri and scores were levelled.

Parri, however, are able to regroup, using the speed and dribbling De Meo brazileri of Matera: Martinelli manages to find his range with some delicious diagonal balls and supreme close control, before a thrilling finish put his side ahead.

Another goal came shortly after as  De Meo flies away on the right wing and crossed to the surface of the grass for Giancarlo Matera, who loses his marker and is able then to score at the near post.

This amazing game was far from over as even with few minutes from the final whistle, Stephen Caramentp pulls one back after a teasing ball through the midfield  saw the Parri defence slow to recover .

Omnia pushed hard  for a full recovery, 20 seconds from the end : a kick from the edge , accurate and powerful , foiled by an amazing Marseglia save, meaning this breathless game ended 4-3.
