UMBRO started a new worldwide campaign which is called : “Do you speak Golaco?” and this campaign is fully involved in minifootball in Greece. Umbro chose N’JOY UNI-League, the Greek Minifootball Championship to be the main vehicle which will promote the campaign. Part of this campaign was an interview of the Brazilian superstar, Roberto Carlos, to the Greek journalists where he gave great answers about Minifootball, N’JOY UNI-League and EMF:

1. Do you believe that amateur minifootball players provide the pure side of the sport and that’s the way that everyone ought to see the game?

R.C. Definitely yes. I believe that in Minifootball and in amateur football you always learn much more than even playing or training on professional level. This is the best way to learn the sport’s “secrets”. Because in this way you can play well and also receive real pleasure from the game.

2. February is an exam period in Greece! What would you propose to the students of the N’JOY UNI-League to do during their breaks?

R.C. I had to study when I was growing up so I know the importance of learning and working hard! It’s important to take breaks because it can help to relax your body and mind. Football or Minifootball can be great competition but it’ s exercise and fun as well so the N’JOY UNI-League sounds like a great idea for anyone who is stressed during exam time!

3. Do you believe that players in N’JOY UNI-League would have the opportunity to become professional football players? And what they have to do to achieve this goal?

R.C. My first team was my school’s team and I always thought that this kind of tournaments and leagues, as the N’JOY UNI-League on amateur level give great help to the players.

4. N’JOY UNI-League represents Greece in the EMF, European Minifootball Federation. How important is for the young students to socialize with other students not only from their country, but from all over Europe?

R.C. I was lucky enough to play football in many countries around the world and I got to learn about different cultures and make many friends. I learnt a lot from these experiences so I would always encourage people to socialize with as many different nationalities as they can. Tournaments are a great opportunity to meet new people and share experiences… and Brazilians know how to party!

Umbro will bring amateur players from all over the world to Brazil for a once-in-a-lifetime trip? Where they’ll live the life of a player at the training camp of Club Atletico Paranaense, one of the best football facilities in the world and they will also get to meet Brazilian footballing legend Roberto Carlos and get some coaching trips from him.

A Golaco is a goal, but not just any goal – it’s the did-you-see-that goal, the special goal, the spectacular piece of skill, the lightning strike, the curled beauty. A Golaco. Every single amateur player can capture one of them on film, upload it to a special Golaco app and he could win one very special competition prize. Golaco campaign is inspired of course by the amazing goal which was achieved by Roberto Carlos with a free kick in the match Brazil – France in 1997. Everybody remembers this goal, it is actually part of the sport’s history!

Obviously, there’s going to be a lot of people interested in this fantastic campaign, but there is a Golaço expert to help pick the winners. Roberto Carlos – Brazilian World Cup winner, Galactico, and the fiercest striker of a ball you could ever meet – is the man that has inspired Umbro’s competition, and he’ll be helping to judge it.
