Romanian dominance has been one of the defining stories of European minifootball, but in Cambrils, Poland arrived with other ideas.
The EMF EuroCup reached boiling point in Spain as eight teams became four, and after a dramatic morning of quarter-final action, the semi-final line-up produced a fascinating battle between two of the continent’s strongest minifootball nations.
Romania against Poland. Twice.

Aldach 442 Sportpub and Duma Tartanu Zabrze carried the Polish flag into the final four, while ACS Arsenal Iași and Dinozaurii Timișoara ensured Romania’s formidable presence in the latter stages of European competition continued.
But could the Polish challengers finally turn the tables on the Romanian powerhouses?

If anyone needed convincing that Aldach 442 Sportpub meant business, their quarter-final provided the answer.
The Polish side produced one of the most emphatic performances of the knockout stages, sweeping aside Montenegro’s Pljevlja 04 DC Light Systems 6-1.
It was more than simply qualification.
It was a statement.
Six goals, a place in the semi-finals secured and a warning fired across the tournament: Aldach have their eyes firmly fixed on the EuroCup trophy.

Waiting for them would be Romanian opposition.
Arsenal fight their way into the last four
ACS Arsenal Iași booked their semi-final place with an impressive 4-2 victory over MFK Vukovi Belgrade.
The Serbian side battled, but Arsenal demonstrated exactly why Romanian teams have developed such a fearsome reputation in European minifootball.
Four goals later, Arsenal were through, setting up a mouth-watering Poland versus Romania semi-final against Aldach.
Could Arsenal halt the Polish charge?
Or were Aldach about to produce something special?

Duma survive a Ukrainian test
On the opposite side of the draw, Duma Tartanu Zabrze had to dig deep.
Ukraine’s Qlevel Rivne Ukraine pushed the Polish side all the way, but Duma found the moments that mattered and emerged with a hard-fought 2-1 victory.
There was no six-goal statement here.
This was about resilience.
Tournament football is often won by teams capable of surviving when matches become uncomfortable, and Duma proved they possessed exactly that quality.
Their reward?
Another Polish-Romanian showdown.

If Duma’s quarter-final was tense, Dinozaurii Timișoara’s meeting with Flamingos FC Athens provided knockout football at its most dramatic.
With the teams locked at 2-2, there was nothing to separate them and the contest ultimately had to be decided from the penalty spot.
Dinozaurii held their nerve.
The Romanian side survived, advanced and kept their EuroCup dream alive.
And suddenly the semi-final picture was complete.
